Hey there!
Welcome to one
of my rambling posts!
So for the
information of everyone, this blog posts will be dedicated to the awesome,
awesome shopping site that is Gmarket.com Global.

I know that all
of us were somewhat at a lost as to how to navigate the site the first time we
delved into the magical store of kpop music, fashion and beauty and everything
that is South Korean that is Gmarket. (Yeah, yeah. I know. I sound really
obsessed. But what can I do. The site just soooo budget friendly.) I even have
to scratch my head on how to navigate the site. But we due patience and loads
of determination (actually, the discounts and freebies were the driving force
behind my determination), I was able to figure out my way through all the information
overload.
So, back to the
topic.
This long-assed
paragraph will be for your crash course on what and how Gmarket works the way I
understood it.
Gmarket is a shopping site that’s like ebay
minus the bidding.
Sellers create mini
shops where they can post their wares (like Korean cosmetics, food, clothing,
jewelry….practically everything, as long as it is LEGAL). So all you have to do
is choose from among the listed goods the ones you want to buy and it is
automatically added to your cart. You can pay thru your credit cards and Paypal
(hmmmnnn…I am familiar with credit cards and Paypal…but the rest, nope….but for
convenience and security purposes, just pay thru Paypal though).
Now the best
thing here is that, everyday, Gmarket has lots of events you can join and can
win lots of coupons that you can use to lower down the prices of the products
you want to purchase. Annnndddddd, sellers even mark down their products like
crazy (think 50% to 70% off. Yep, that kind of discounts. I kid you not.).
Once you paid
for your purchases and the estimated shipping fee, sellers ship to the Gmarket
warehouse the items you bought (Sometimes sellers charge you a delivery fee.
Sometimes, they don’t. Sellers sometimes don’t charge you delivery fees because
you bought products from them that totaled the minimum limit they set for free
delivery. Or sometimes, they are just
feeling generous. Kidding! I think it is their marketing strategy or something.
Or you can use the “free domestic delivery” coupon you won from Gmarket!).
When all your
purchases have reached the Gmarket warehouse, Gmarket packs the items for you
in one box (Please take note that Gmarket packs your purchases in one big box
-> depending on the sizes of delivered products from sellers. Gmarket does
not repack. Instead, Gmarket just dumps everything inside the box. And it’s a
big-assed box too. I think they want to avoid issues such as product loses,
damages, etc. ) and weighs the box to get the actual weight and calculates the
actual shipping fees depending on the actual weight. Whenever there is excess
in the shipping fees, it is automatically credited to your Gmarket account. For
deficiencies, such as when estimated shipping weight is less than actual
shipping weight, you have to pay for the deficiency otherwise, purchased items
are canceled and amount paid is returned to you less the charges incurred in
cancelling.
Once that’s
done, your package is ready to be shipped. Once it’s shipped, all you have to
do is just sit back, relax and wait for the package to come to mama…..hehehe.
Sawry, I mean, when Mr. Postman delivers it straight to you or you have to pick
up the package from your local postage office (You get to know the whereabouts
of your packages because a tracking number is provided to you). And since
Gmarket uses EMS which stands for Express Mail Service, it’s guaranteed to be
really fast. Unless of course, your local postage office is throwing a bitch
fit. In which case, I suggest you just have tah waaaaiiiiiittt for it.
Bummer, I know.
The bottom line
is, GMarket is just the middleman between you, the buyer, and the hundreds and
thousands of Korean sellers selling Korean merchandise. ^^:
I do hope this
post helped you a lot! Good luck on your Gmarket shopping!!!!
