Korean
Pop, or simply K-POP has been fairly recognized around the world as a music genre.
Led by various famous Korean groups from the prominent SM, YG and JYP
entertainment agencies, they are slowly letting people know that K-POP is here
and is here to stay.
Consequently,
along with the K-POP boom, is the explosion of the popularity of Korean
cosmetics. This could be attributed to the fact that K-POP band members (and also
famous Korean actors and actresses), or as referred by Korean as K-POP idols,
possess very fair and healthy looking skin which in no time at all, have been
noticed by international K-POP fans. This
led to Korean skincare and cosmetics brands being regarded as one of K-POP’s
famous export. And rightfully so since these brands actually are really
effective and most are really affordable. They, sometimes, outperform other
established and really expensive international brands.
Which
leads me to my blog entry today.
You
see, I am fairly curious with the effectiveness of these Korean brands and to
feed my curiosity, I have decided to try out some of these Korean products just
to check for myself what the fuss was all about.
As
I have stated earlier, I am newbie to this “skincare and cosmetics version” Korean
wave that has been invading Asia and rest of the world. And just to see for
myself the effectiveness that some bloggers have claimed, I ordered myself a
few things from Wishtrend.com, an online shop selling Korean Skincare and cosmetics
to international Korean skincare connoisseurs and newbies alike such as yours
truly.
The
site is fairly straight to the point, nothing fancy, which is for me good since,
I am not a fan of “overwhelming my eyes” with all the graphic brouhahas. I have
noticed that the site does not carry the usual brands that K-POP fans such as
me are familiar with like Etude House, Innisfree, Nature Republic…Is it safe
for me to say that this site carries mid-tier to high end skincare and
cosmetics brands?
I
have ordered for myself just a few things just to satisfy my curiosity. I
placed my orders last April 25, 2014 and paid
USD$9.00 for the shipping fee as my order was around USD$52.00 (that’s already less
the USD$5.00 discount coupon for new members)…USD$17.00 short of the free
shipping fees promo the site has for orders totaling USD$69.00 and above.
Anyways,
I waited for more than a month just to get my hands on my orders (Philippine
postal system is just…..ugh. The tracking system becomes useless when my shipment
arrived at the country à last update as to the whereabouts of
shipment was May 6, 2014 and since then no movement at all. Maybe it’s because the
postal system isn’t as high-tech as that of South Korea? Or Customs is just
PMSing, as per usual. I have read countless of horror stories online and I was
just sooooo scared for my shipment because 1. They might get lost and 2. I
might pay for custom duties way beyond the amount I have paid for.) and finally
on May 30, 2014 I got it (well, after checking the local post office for the 123456789th
time).
So
here are my ordered items ;=)
item 1 Tosowoong Enzyme Powder Wash
item 2 SkinMiso Rice Foam Cleansing
Item 3 Ciracle Pore Control Cleansing Brush

And
the samples ;=( pretty dismal if you ask me.
Just
2 sachets. I.AM.NOT.AMUSED.
Overall,
the experience was nice. Maybe, I’ll be buying online in the future but I
think, I’ll be buying somewhere else (and no, this decision was not based
entirely on the very poor samples they gave me. Yeah, I’m BITTER so sue me. ;=()
